Our theme this year is "There are faces behind the statistics." Your teachers may want to emphasize some of the enclosed statistics or have their students research some of the statistics about drinking and driving, including those that can be found on MADD's Internet site www.maddorangecounty.org. Essays will be judged in two groups and grade level will be factored into the judging. The first group will consist of students in grades 1 - 3. The second group, students in grades 4 - 6. Members of MADD's Board of Directors, staff and other community volunteers will be judging this contest. We hope that you and your classes will decide to take part in this project that is used year-round to help achieve our mission to stop drunk driving, support the victims of this violent crime and prevent underage drinking. Enclosed is an entry form, which you may photocopy. Please contact MADD at (714) 838-6199 with any questions you may have.
