More information is available on the MADD National website (www.madd.org).  The website has a Frequently Asked Questions page where you can ask additional questions.

The website also allows for the download of MADD's Annual Report.

Membership

MADD's efforts to increase the awareness and perception of the realities of driving under the influence are having a positive impact.  With the support of individuals like you, we have been able to educate thousands of people through the media, public awareness programs and word of mouth.

The improvement in Orange County manifests itself in the most recent statistics available; regarding alcohol-related traffic crashes, 1997 was the safest year in Orange County's history… until 1998!  We are eagerly awaiting the release of 1999 statistics, and wholeheartedly hope that it will become safer yet.  Each life we save is a unique individual, with family, friends and qualities that have an impact on our society.  Unfortunately, there is an average of 7 alcohol related injuries per day in Orange County, so there is still much work to be done in our community.

At this time, we would like to encourage you to become a member of your local chapter of MADD.  Membership dues are $10.00 for a senior citizen or student, $20.00 for an individual, $40.00 for a family, and $150.00 for a business.

To become a member and receive MADD's quarterly newsletter, simply mail your annual membership dues to: MADD, Orange County.  A printable membership form is available.

Each membership donation goes directly into our lifesaving educational programs.  The entire amount of your gift stays right here in Orange County, to combat drunk driving where we need it the most ... at home.

Volunteering

Since this chapter began in December 1981, Orange County MADD has changed how the criminal justice system and the general public view the crime of drinking and driving.  We have taken a very proactive approach in educating our community.

The rewards of volunteering and reaching out to our neighbor are invaluable, and with the help of people like you, we are making a difference.  MADD truly believes that with the continued support of our volunteers, we can make a positive statement and set an example for Orange County.  To get started, simply fill out the volunteer application, which has been sent to you in the mail along with a "Volunteer Packet".  When complete, fax or mail it back to us and we can begin to match various activities with your personality and time constraints.  I look forward to meeting you in person!

More information about volunteering is available on the Articles page.

Why don't the e-mail links work anymore?

As of October 15, 2002, we have disabled all e-mail links on our website due to the proliferation of new viruses that use collected e-mail addresses to disguise the true source of the e-mail.  We have removed automated e-mail links from our own e-mail addresses as well as those of anyone referenced on our website.  For more information on this problem, see Trend Micro's website about the KLEZ virus and variants.

Why are some links broken?

We offer links to other websites that may be of interest to our visitors.  The nature of the Internet allows it to change quickly and easily.  Occasionally, links to other websites may become broken if a page is moved.

If you find a broken link, please let know and will we try to replace it with the correct information.  We very much appreciate you taking the time to let us know about broken links.
