13 more people died in Orange County in 1996 (a 25 % increase); 164 fewer people were injured.

The average number of victims per alcohol-related injury/fatal collision remained at 1.5

Cities that had double the fatal collisions in 1996 (compared to 1995): Anaheim, Costa Mesa.

Cities that had increases in injury/fatal collisions for 1996 (compared to 1995): Costa Mesa, Fountain Valley, Irvine, Laguna Beach, Laguna Hills, Los Alamitos, Mission Viejo, Newport Beach, San Juan Capistrano, Tustin, Westminster.

Cities that had decreases in injury/fatal collisions for 1996: Buena Park, Fullerton, Orange, Santa Ana, Seal Beach

Overall: 11 Orange County cities had increases in injury/fatal collisions in 1996 (compared to 1995); 19 cities had decreases.

DUI Arrests in 1996 by all Law Enforcement Agencies: 15, 153 (up 5 % from 1995)

* injury/fatal collisions are those alcohol-related collisions in which someone was either injured or killed
