Since alcohol leaves the blood at .015 per hour, let's see what happens over the next 10 hours . . . 2:00 AM - .19 BAC: You get into bed, fighting off the "whirlies." 3:00 AM - .175 BAC: Sleeping 4:00 AM - .16 BAC: You wake up with a pounding headache, find the bathroom and take an aspirin. 5:00 AM - .145 BAC: Sleeping 6:00 AM - .13 BAC: Alarm startles you awake. Reluctantly, you get up for work. 7:00 AM - .115 BAC: You leave for work, wondering why the keys won't fit in the lock. 8:00 AM - .10 BAC: You've miraculously made it to work, but you're legally still intoxicated! 9:00 AM - .085 BAC: You hope coffee will ease your "cotton mouth," then you spill it. 10:00 AM - .07 BAC: You leave for your first call of the day and you still could be arrested for driving "under the influence." 11:00 AM - .055 BAC: You're with a client, still feeling a bit shaky. 12:00 noon - .04 BAC: Still under the influence Printed with permission from NETS http://www.trafficsafety.org
